Evacuation Plan
Bethlehem Baptist
Bethlehem Members,
Once our buildings are completely renovated, a more comprehensive evacuation plan will be developed. In the meantime, please use the following evacuation guidelines. If you have evacuation plan suggestions, have access to other evacuation plans, or would like to participate in the development of an evacuation plan, please let Jim Salley know as soon as possible.
In the meantime, please familiarize yourself with the following interim plan:
EMERGENCY EVACUATION SIGNAL:
1. During a “TEST” evacuation: 3 long rings on Sunday School bells.
2. “Actual” evacuation: Fire alarm will sound.
STEPS TAKEN DURING EVACUATION (During Sunday School):
1. Remain calm and announce evacuation is in progress.
2. Secure Sunday School Roll Book.
3. Exit building in an orderly manner-evacuation instructions mounted on wall in your class.
4. Immediately after exiting building, go to a pre-determined area outside the church and remain there until “all safe” signal is given. The pre-determined area could be the mailbox or church sign in front of church, the cemetery entrance, etc. - This pre-determined area must be at least 300 feet from the church building. All Pre-School and Children are to evacuate to a predetermined area near the cemetery. Teachers should notify parents of pre-determined area “prior” to an evacuation occurrence.
5. Upon arrival at pre-determined area, take roll and account for all those attending your class. Notify Sunday School Director of any missing people.
6. IMPORTANT: No one is to re-enter building until the “all-safe” signal is given (All safe signal: Pastor, Chairman of Deacon Body or Sunday School Director will shout “All-safe”).
STEPS TAKEN DURING EVACUATION (Worship Service):
1.Remain calm and exit the building in an orderly manner by the nearest exit. Those in other parts of building follow the Sunday School evacuation instructions above.
2.After exiting the building, go to an area at least 300 feet from building.
3.Same as number 6 above.
